Miriam the Mentor: Sparking Confidence in the Next Generation

Miriam had always loved children, but she never imagined becoming a teacher. As a mother of four, she joined her local Christian school in Nairobi as a classroom assistant, unsure of her place in the academic world.

When ACSI Africa launched a foundational teaching skills programme in Kenya, Miriam hesitantly signed up. The training covered classroom management, lesson planning, and biblical integration—concepts that felt both overwhelming and exciting. But with encouragement from her facilitators, she pressed on.

By the end of the course, Miriam had built her first full lesson plan. She delivered it confidently to her peers and soon began leading lessons in her own class. Her school principal noticed her growth and invited her to mentor other new assistants.

Today, Miriam is one of the school’s most respected educators. She leads devotions, trains staff, and models what it means to be both a teacher and a disciple.
